Customer Tanning Guidelines
*** Please read carefully ***
Begin with short sessions of no more than 5–10 minutes and gradually increase your tanning time over a period of days or weeks. Avoid overexposure to UV rays, which can increase the risk of skin cancer and other health problems.
Always wear appropriate eye protection, such as goggles or eye shades, to prevent damage to your eyes from UV rays.
If you experience any discomfort, such as feeling too hot, faint, dizzy, sick, or otherwise uncomfortable at any point during the tanning session, it is important to stop the session immediately.
Never use sun-beds or tanning equipment for longer than recommended or more frequently than instructed. Always follow the instructions provided by the salon and avoid overexposure to UV rays, which can cause painful sunburn and increase the risk of skin cancer.
Jewellery should not be worn during the tanning session.
No cosmetics or deodorants/perfumes should be worn during a tanning session.
No contact lenses should be worn during the tanning sessions. Protective eye protection should be worn at all times.
Avoid looking directly at the light bulbs in the tanning beds.
Persons with very sensitive skin and/or no existing tan should restrict their first number of sessions to three minutes or under.
Regularly apply a moisturizer to your skin, particularly after tanning sessions. This will help keep your skin hydrated and prevent dryness, flaking, and peeling.
Regularly check your skin for any unusual changes, such as new moles, freckles, or changes in the colour, shape, or size of existing moles. Report any changes to your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible.
People who have had skin cancer or who have a family history of skin cancer should avoid using tanning beds.
People with photosensitivity disorders, such as lupus, porphyria, or polymorphous light eruption, should avoid using tanning beds as exposure to UV light can trigger a skin reaction.
Some medications, such as antibiotics, antidepressants, and acne medications, can increase sensitivity to UV light. People taking these medications should avoid using tanning beds. If you are unsure of the impact your existing medication will have on your sensitivity to UV light, you should refrain from using the tanning services until you have consulted your doctor.
People with immune system disorders, such as HIV/AIDS or organ transplant recipients, may be more susceptible to skin damage from UV light and should avoid using tanning beds.
Exposure to UV light from tanning beds can increase the risk of eye damage and exacerbate certain eye conditions, such as cataracts and macular degeneration.
You should not use the tanning salon where you have consumed alcohol in the past 8 hours.
Pregnant women should avoid using tanning beds as UV exposure can increase the risk of birth defects and other complications.
Before using our tanning equipment or availing of our services, it is important that you consult with your doctor if you have any medical conditions, such as epilepsy, fainting, headaches, heart conditions, hypertension, cold sores, allergies, skin ulcers, or have suffered ill-effects from normal sun exposure in the past.
Everyone's skin is different, so it's important to know your skin type and the appropriate tanning time and intensity for your skin. Ask the salon staff for advice or consult a dermatologist if you're unsure.
Drink plenty of water before and after your tanning sessions to stay hydrated and help your body flush out any toxins.
